About Possible Planet

about possible planet

Possible Planet is a big and bold idea: Let’s build the more just, more sustainable, and more prosperous world we know is possible, rather than trying to fix the one we’ve inherited.

We know that our species is on an unsustainable course, and that we must come together to alter its direction.

Our main focus is on financing the change, but our vision of what’s possible is broader than that, and we invite you join us in expanding it further.

So what’s  possible where you live?

We are about inspiring what’s possible everywhere on Earth — both geographically and in the groups of people who can influence each other to conceive of a possible planet, and then work towards it.

Since each of us will be doing it from our own vantage point, it’s about hearing from all of us about what will work to build a regenerative future on the Earth.

Together we can knit a complex fabric of what’s possible, in thought and deed. We can take action toward the common goals of a possible planet, however you define it.

If you want to get right down to business, what we offer today is:
Regenerative Financing— financing for clean energy, water conservation, and resiliency, as well as some other initiatives

Eco-Local Development — including Eco-Communities, Cooperatives, and Local Currencies.

If you enjoy visionary thinking, we invite you to peruse these pages, and leave us your comments. And we also encourage you to connect with us in other ways, to explore your passions, to join with us in causing a better world, and helping us achieve our goals.

Possible Planet is our new name for CRCS, the Center for Regenerative Community Solutions.

Think of us as a “trimtab” organization, interested in money and finance as the leverage points where we can use a small intervention to make a real difference in the world.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

We’re about challenging conventional assumptions about what’s possible, necessary, and ultimately inevitable for the planet if humanity is to survive and flourish.

We’re about starting to build that world today, a world that works to restore and regenerate the Earth’s productive capacity on behalf of a growing global population in which every individual has the opportunity to make a positive contribution.

Stand with us, and together we can create a better world for all.

It’s clear to most people that our lifestyles, particularly in America, are not sustainable. We have been consuming planetary resources faster than the earth can replenish them. And since these problems really can’t be solved from the same level of consciousness that created them, we need to explore climate change, social conflict, and economic malaise from new paradigms. We’ve been doing just that, and have discovered and created some immediately practical solutions using familiar tools like money and credit, investments, financing, housing, community and business.

"The visions we offer our children shape the future... It matters what those visions are."

Carl Sagan

Our Invitation:

We invite you to join with us in exploring a future of clean energy, ecological harmony, and economic sufficiency (if not abundance) by leveraging capital, know-how, and heart to make a difference in our communities and in the world.

We are looking to finance energy and other improvements as a way to kickstart sustainable growth: growth that provides jobs and meets human needs while restoring the resources of the planet.

We partner with both for-profits and non-profits that share our social and ecological goals. Contact us if you believe we can further these goals together.

Jonathan Cloud:

"Join with us in creating new possibilities for the future, by challenging the dominant ideas of the present, and bringing new solutions to the problems of climate disruption, habitat and species loss, and persistent social injustice."

Victoria Zelin-Cloud:

"My mission is to help people and communities thrive economically, socially, and environmentally through regenerative financing. Regenerative financing creates value beyond financial capital—it generates a flow of value that unleashes other forms of capital: knowledge capital, natural capital, political capital, and more. Social capital is essential in regenerative financing; it determines what gets done, based on relationships of trust, shared goals, inspiration, acknowledgment, and teamwork.

"Our nonprofit, Possible Planet, leverages regenerative financing to improve the community in many ways, from lowering the carbon footprint, to creating local wealth, jobs, and economic development, to helping commercial property owners save money on energy, and more. We see regenerative financing as the tip of the spear, helping communities to evolve into the resilient, equitable, and inclusive ecosystems they are capable of being."

Gus Escher:

"The bad news is that we humans have a lot of hard work to do in making our society more enlightened and our planet more inhabitable. The good news is that we humans can do this, and from what I've seen during my lifetime, we have begun."
